Danby Wiske is a lovely friendly village which is on the route of Alf Wainwright's 192 mile Coast to Coast walk and is only 60 miles from the finish at Robin Hoods Bay. When Wainwright originally walked the route in 1972 he wasn't very positive with his comments about Danby Wiske, but over the years it has become a popular village to rest on the walk - we really are a friendly bunch.

Also, if you're planning to stay a few days, Danby Wiske is only 4 miles from the County town of Northallerton where the main Edinburgh to London train line offers journeys of only 2.5 hours to London or 2 hours to Edinburgh - York or Newcastle is only 30 minutes away! Plus, Northallerton has a famous Betty's Tea Room - one of the four Betty's Cafes in the whole of Yorkshire.
